Barbara R. “Barb” Koelle, 77 of Greenwood, died early Saturday morning August 26, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born May 27, 1940 in Altoona a daughter of the late Hubert C. and Sarah Catharine (Miller) Irvin.        

            Surviving are two daughters, Sandra L. Koelle of Portland, Oregon; Susan L. Shaffer and her husband John E. of Altoona; three grandchildren, Nathan J. Shaffer of Altoona; Ashlyn J. Shaffer of Asheville, NC; Daniel Q. K. Stewart of Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Barb was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret “Peg” McManamy and a brother, Thomas Irvin.

            She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

            Barbara was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church for over 65 years.

            She was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School.

           She retired from the Blair County District Attorney’s Office with over twenty years’ service. She had also been employed for numerous years at Park Furniture in Juniata.

           Barb enjoyed reading on her front porch; NASCAR, especially Rusty Wallace; and her church where she sang in the choir for many years.

          Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Monday August 28, 2017 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday August 29, 2017 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Duane Coy officiating. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.

          In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 East Walton Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
