Ben Allen Ostrander, 55 of Altoona died early Saturday morning January 13, 2018.

            He was born October 11, 1962 in Altoona a son of the late David Samuel, Sr. and Helen Lottie (Toomey) Ostrander.

            Surviving are two children, Sierra Nicole Holt and Joshua Allen Ostrander both of Georgia; two granddaughters, Samantha Holt of Georgia and Olivia Kate Ostrander of Alabama; three sisters, Dreana Gale Makrush of Chambersburg; Catharine Marie Shumaker and her husband Cliff of Altoona; Ann Irene Lechner of Altoona; many nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Tammy Hockenberry of Altoona.

            Ben was preceded in death by a brother, David S. Ostrander, Jr. in April 2005 and a granddaughter Kylie Marie Holt on March 14, 2007.

            Mr. Ostrander attended Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona.

            He was a 1980 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

            Ben was employed as a paint prepper for Blair Sign Company and had previously been employed as a cabinet-maker in Georgia.

            He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

            Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
