Betty Catherine Barr, 88 of Duncansville died Tuesday March 14, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.  

               She was born April 22, 1928 in Frankstown a daughter of the late George and Mary (Estep) Leair. She married Joseph G. Barr on June 17, 1950 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1985.

               Surviving are her three children, Deborah A. Barr of Duncansville, Timothy J. Barr and wife Roxanne of Altoona, Diane L. Murray and husband Todd of Loveland, CO; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Sheltra and husband Chris, Catherine Wallace and husband Richard, Nikita Gilliam, Natasha Gilliam, and Linsey; five great grandchildren, Destiny Wallace, Royce Gilliam-Nagle, Olivia Wallace, Jonathan, and Landon; a brother, Joe Lear and many nieces and nephews.

               She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Glenn, and Carl Lear; three sisters in laws, Jane, Marion and Sally Lear, and her beloved doggie “Mandy”.

               Betty was a member of New Life Community Church, Altoona.

               She retired in 1989 as a housekeeper at the Presbyterian Home after 11 years of services.

               She enjoyed reading, puzzles, flower gardening, watching game shows, and just loved being a homemaker and making sure everyone was well feed.

               Betty was a formal member of the Women’s Missionary Society.

               Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday March 19, 2017 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday March 20, 2017 at New Life Community Church, 621 Bell Ave, Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Terry Farr officiating.

               Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery.
