Beverly A. (Butler) Blackburn, 85 of Duncansville went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning January 18, 2014.
She was born May 22, 1928 in Sharon a daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth (Nicodemus) Butler. Beverly married Joseph B. Blackburn on December 3, 1955 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2009.
Mrs. Blackburn was a member of Hicks United Methodist Church, Duncansville.
She was a graduate of Altoona High School.
Beverly retired from the units department at Sylvania GTE in 1984 after 32 years service.
Surviving are a brother William Butler and his wife Janice of Altoona; brother-in-law Don Blackburn of Osterburg; nephew Michael Mundwiler and his wife Reta; and special cousin Dorothy Rollason of Ohio.
Beverly and Joe had no children of their own but claimed the Boley family as their family. Joseph and Romaine Boley of Hollidaysburg and their children Colleen Berardinelli and family, Jeffrey Boley and family and Celeste McMahon and family.
Beverly is survived by many loving friends from her church and the Jaffa Shrine and caring neighbors.
A gathering of friends and family  will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday January 25, 2014 at Hicks United Methodist Church, 1211 Third Avenue, Duncansville where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rich Morris officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Jaffa Shrine, PO Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603-1984.
