Charles Henry “Doodle” “Taz” Mingle, Jr., 64 of Altoona died Thursday afternoon July 6, 2017 at home.

               He was born July 8, 1952 in Altoona a son of the late Charles Henry and Martha (Fultz) Mingle, Sr. He married Brenda Lee Barkley on May 15, 1979.

               Surviving are his wife, Brenda, three children, Heather R. Mingle (Joe Thomas), Melissa L. Mingle and Chaz W. Mingle (Jen Gleason); nine grandchildren, Kayla Chilcote (Brandon Barger), Kaedan and Kamden DeJesus, Tess, Damian and Jaxson Mingle, Ava Conrad, Alison Cashman, and Allana Thomas; one great grandchild, Charlie Barger; a brother Walter Mingle (Pat) and a couple of nieces.

               Charles was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

               He graduated in 1970 from Altoona Area High School.

               He worked for many years at Jack White Signs and previously worked at North American.

               Charlie loved racing his 1970 Chevy Nova. His love of racing has been lifelong. He also loved showing his cars at car shows. He would like for everyone who has a loud fast car to light it up one last at his viewing in honor of him.

               Friends will be received Wednesday July 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc, 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a memorial service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Mary Emery officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
