            Deleo Charles “Charlie” Gregory, 91 of Altoona died early Sunday morning July 3, 2016 at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

            He was born October 4, 1924 in Corry a son of the late Kenneth Robert and Bertha (Brown) Gregory. He married Joanna Jayne Hess on January 6, 1945 in Pittsburgh. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1998.

            Surviving are three daughters, Brenda D. Gregory and Linda M. Grimm and her husband Rex all of Altoona; Beth Joy Foster and her husband Terry of Tyrone; five grandchildren, Brenton Grimm; Melissa Foster; Allen Foster and his wife Janele; Nathan Foster; and Heidi Grimm; Five great grandchildren, Sean; Meaghan; Haylee; Gregory and Evan; and his sister, Maxine Cone of Corry.

            Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Max Gregory in 2012.

            Mr. Gregory was of the Baptist faith.

            He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII attaining the rank of Hospital Assistant First Class.

            He retired as a self-employed building contractor on December 31, 1989 after 45 years’ service.

            Charlie enjoyed working with children through his church and AWANA, and he also was an avid hunter.

            He was a life member of Boone Camp in Renovo.

            Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday July 10, 2016 and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday July 11, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be made at Presbyterian Cemetery, Alexandria.

            In lieu of the flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, 916 Hickory Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
