Esther Jean “Ess” Woomer, 84 of Altoona died Monday afternoon July 4, 2016 at her residence.

            She was born April 6, 1932 in Altoona a daughter of the late Walter George and Mary Margaret (Sherman) Hughes. She married Dean Walter Woomer on July 25, 1950 in Cumberland, MD.

            Surviving are her husband Dean; her son David Duane Woomer and her grandson Bradley A. Tetanich all of Sinking Valley.

            Ess was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter W. Hughes; Orville Hughes; Chester Hughes; and Wilbert Hughes; and three sisters, Leona Lukehart; Anna Greiner and Bertha Hughes.

            Mrs. Woomer was a member of Grace Family Bible Church, Duncansville.

            She retired as a monitor from Sylvania after 26 years’ service.

            Ess enjoyed shopping, bowling and cooking.

            Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. James Zaebst officiating.
