Herbert Eugene Richards, 74 of Gallitzin died early Friday morning May 12, 2017 at home.

He was born April 5, 1943 in Altoona, a son of the late Violet Richards. He married Peggy Lake on February 7, 2017.

Surviving are his wife; three children from a previous marriage, Dawn Squires and husband Dennis of TX, Jim Richards and wife Lanette of Altoona, Gloria Houck of Altoona; two step-sons, Leroy Rucker and John Lake; seven grandchildren, Kourtney and Brandon Squires, Olivia, Abbey, and Anna Richards; DJ and Tyler Houck; and two sisters, Phyllis Smouse and Patricia Rentz.

He was preceded in death by a brother Earl Richards and a step-daughter Shonda Beck.

He retired as a supervisor from Skills Industrial Center after 30 plus years of service.

Herbie enjoyed fishing and hunting.

At the request of the deceased there will be no services.
