Irene Faye “Rene” Shaner, 80, of Altoona, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

               She was born February 16, 1937, in Altoona, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Lillian F. (McMaster) Bice, Sr.

               Surviving are her daughter, Sheryl F. “Sherry” Foot and husband Don of Utah; a sister, Victoria L. Bice from Altoona; two brothers, Joseph M. Bice, Jr,  from Utah, and James E. Bice and wife Sandra from Duncansville; a granddaughter, Tiffani R. Clayson; a grandson, Christopher W. Sackett and wife Chrissy; great grandchildren, and additional family in Utah, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

               She was preceded in death by her son, William E. “Butch” Shaner, III, and her sister, Mary Jane Shaner.

               Rene was a member of the Altoona Bible Church.

               She was a 1954 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a graduate of Altoona School of Practical Nursing.

               Rene was Licensed Practical Nurse at Hillview and previously employed in Utah at the VA Hospital.

               She enjoyed taking care of people, traveling, and spending time with family.

               A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Bellwood, with Pastor Stewart W. McClelland officiating.

               In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave, Altoona, PA 16602.
