James W. “Jim” Brantlinger, 69 of Duncansville, died Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born April 7, 1947 in Altoona, the son of the late George and Betty Jane (Lathero) Brantlinger. He married Linda Carol McGill on November 14, 1981 in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; four children, Renee L. Staines of Altoona, Patrick L. McGill and wife Michelle of Arizona, Sean M. McGill and wife Dionne of Hollidaysburg, Jeffrey J. Brantlinger and wife Donna Black; thirteen grandchildren, Noah, Micah Staines, Jenae, Mykala, Jadon, Trinity, Cole, Chelesy, Patrick McGill, Samantha Barge, Devin, Danica, Jesse Black; five great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Bowers and husband Donald of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a sister Susan Alderiso.

He was a member of Grace Bible Church.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School.

Mr. Brantlinger was a conductor from Norfolk Southern retiring on May 1, 2007 after 39 years of service.

He was a member of Horseshoe Radio Club.

Jim enjoyed amateur radio operator and hunting. 

Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday October 6, 2016 and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday October 7, 2016 at Grace Bible Church, 164 Laurel Ln, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sean M. McGill officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
