Jane Lucille Helsel, 94 of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Altoona died Thursday December 29, 2016 at Westminster Rehabilitation, Rock Hill, SC.

            She was born August 31, 1922 in Altoona a daughter of the late Charles E. and Beulah (Ross) Stout. She married Graham Wendle Helsel on October 11, 1947 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death April 3, 2015.

            Surviving are two children, son Jeffrey L. Helsel and his wife Evelyn M. of Rock Hill, SC; daughter Jennifer A. Herron and her husband Jack of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren Gregory Helsel, Becky Willemsen, Christi Crosby, and Lee Hoover; two great grandchildren Troy Crosby and Gretchen Helsel; and a brother, Charles R. Stout of Emmaus.

            Jane was preceded in death by a brother Edwin E. Stout.

            Mrs. Helsel was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.  

            She was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School.

            She retired as a secretary from Penn State Altoona in the Housing & Food Service Department.

            She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

            Mrs. Helsel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; volunteer for Home Nursing; Professional Secretaries Association; and was a treasurer at her church.

            Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 5, 2017 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Schwartzman officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Harrisburg Office, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100,
Harrisburg, PA 17110.
