Jeanette Grace “Becky” Gates, of Altoona died Saturday afternoon January 13, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.

She was born July 29, 1930 in Mill Creek a daughter of the late Eugene and Edna Rutherford.

She married Howard I. “Sonny” Gates on November 1, 1976 in Winchester, VA.

Surviving are her husband, Sonny; two sons, Michael Mangia of Altoona and Steven Mangia of Hollidaysburg; a granddaughter, Kristen Mangia of New Jersey; a sister Peggy Williams of Washington state; and her doge, Luke.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Fred and Jim Rutherford.

Becky was raised by her grandmother Geisinger and was close to two special uncles, Gene and Ed Geisinger.

Mrs. Gates was a member of Riggles Gap Bible Church.

She retired as a nurse from the Altoona Hospital with 24 years’ service.

Becky enjoyed shopping.

Family and church family will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Riggles Gap Bible Church where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor William Ice officiating. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.
