June L. Irvin, 92, of Altoona, passed away peacefully and entered her “forever home” in heaven early Sunday morning, July 23, 2017, at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg following a brief illness.

She was born March 7, 1925 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Donald and Ivalo (Nash) Howser, and was raised by her grandparents, Carrie and Wilmer Nash. On June 2, 1950, she married Joseph V. Irvin, Jr., in Winchester, VA.

Surviving are her daughter, Marty Jo (Tim) Irvin-Stellabotte of Altoona; a granddaughter, Morgan Stellabotte; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald W. Howser; sister-in-law, Jean; a special aunt, Gwendolyn K. Milton; and beloved pets Bandy, Callie, Cleo, and Snoppy.

June was a 1943 graduate of Altoona Area High School and attended Zeth Business School.  She retired from Altoona Hospital in 1994 in the credit and billing department with 25 years of service. She was previously employed in the filament department of Sylvania. Following her retirement from Altoona Hospital, she served as a volunteer in the Radiology Dept.

She was a lifelong member of First Church of Christ, where she attended bible study and served as a deaconess. For the past 15 years, she attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church and attended bible studies and Lenten breakfasts.

Throughout her life, June enjoyed craft projects bus trips, shopping with her daughter, and spending time with family and friends. She and Joe were avid bowlers and competed in several local and regional competitions and captured first-place wins. She also loved sharing God’s love with others and was instrumental in getting several new members to join the church. The greatest joy of her life, however was spending time with her daughters and granddaughter and watching Morgan after school and during the summer.
