Margaret A. “Peggy” Ardrey, 81 of Altoona died late Thursday afternoon November 10, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born August 7, 1935 in Altoona a daughter of the late Arthur Clayton and Alphretta Christine (Steele) Gailey. She married William Glenn Ardrey October 19, 1957 in Altoona. He preceded her in death August 21, 2008.

            Surviving are a daughter Joyce Acker and her husband Randy of Martinsburg; two granddaughters, Valerie Skurnick and her husband Davey of Williamsburg; and Pamela Kennedy and her husband Matthew of Altoona; four great grandchildren, Abigail Skurnick, Noah Skurnick, Kadense Skurnick and Colt Kennedy; a sister Carol Montgomery and her husband Michael of Altoona; and a half-sister Dorothy McCartney of Altoona.

            Peggy was preceded in death by her son, David Ardrey on January 19, 2012; two brothers, George and Thomas Gailey; two sisters Judy Fisher and Vivian Hale; two half-brothers, Arthur and Jack Gailey; and a half-sister Charlotte Zorger.          

            Mrs. Ardrey was a member of First Church of Christ, Juniata Gap where she previously served as a deaconess and a Sunday School teacher for “The Beginners” class.

            She was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Peggy was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a Peer Counselor.

            She enjoyed spending time with activities and the kinship of her Maybrook Hills “family”.

            Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday November 14, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor David Banaszak officiating.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the activity fund at Maybrook Hills Nursing Home, 301 Valley View Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
