Marian E. “Grandma” Smith, 96 of the Winds at Mattern Orchard, Duncansville died Saturday afternoon September 3, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born July 31, 1920 in Altoona a daughter of the late James and Edith Mae (Rutherford) Horne. She married Harold E. Smith on May 5, 1937 in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2008.

            Surviving are a son, H. David Smith and his wife Debbie of Lakemont, Altoona; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Altoona.

            Marian was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Beverly Ann and Barbara Jean Smith; a son, Ronald C. Smith on October 13, 2009; and a grandson Wayne Smith.

            Mrs. Smith was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            Marian enjoyed spending time with her family; crocheting and knitting.

            Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday September 7, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Drew McCaffery officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 200 Third Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
