Matthew E. “Matt” Pielmeier, 57, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 3, 2017 at his residence.
He was born October 10, 1959 in Altoona, son of the late Kenneth Erle and Jean Eleanor (Mentzer) Pielmeier.
Surviving are a son, Matthew C. Pielmeier of Altoona; four grandchildren: Isaac, Naomi, Madison and Aurora; four sisters: Beth E. McCahren and husband, Robert, of Hollidaysburg, Jody E. Pielmeier of Juniata, Lisa E. Long and husband, John, of Altoona, and Dr. Carla E. Pielmeier-Wertz and husband, Richard, of Lebanon; a brother, Thomas E. Pielmeier and wife, Linda, of Perth Amboy, N.J.; four nieces and nephews: Brady McCahren, Brittni Crum, Brianne Clapper and Brennan Long; and numerous extended family.
Matt was a 1977 graduate of Altoona Area High School. From August, 1977, to the present, he was employed as a die setter at Lumax Industries, Altoona.
He enjoyed NASCAR, especially Richard Petty, and he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition, he was an avid fan of Steven King, having owned all of the author’s works.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Ken Beichler officiating. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
