Michael Leo “Mic” “Mike” Porta, 67 of York formerly of Altoona died Tuesday evening August 23, 2016 at his residence.

            He was born December 22, 1948 in Altoona a son of the late Melvin Leo and Catherine D. (Love) Porta. He married Bonnie Lee Grove on July 27, 1968 in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; daughter Tracy Lynn Baum and her husband Richard of York; son Shane Allen Porta and his wife Kelley of Edmonton, KY; three grandchildren, Samantha Baum; Danielle Baum; and Richard Baum and his wife Trisha; two great granddaughters, Chloe Lynn and Mia Faith; four nephews, Ronald Porta of FL; Jeffrey Porta and his wife Debbie of NC; Robert Porta and his wife, Jennifer of NC; and William Porta of OH.

            Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and William Porta; and a niece Rhonda Porta.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam.

            He retires as a truck driver in November 2013 with 48 years’ total service, having last been employed by Paul Miller Express, Spring Grove.

            Mic enjoyed watching TV; NASCAR especially Jimmie Johnson and he also enjoyed his dog “JJ”.

            Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday August 28, 2016 and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday August 29, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Brian Sandell officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
