Richard M. “Dick” Yon, 75 of Altoona died Sunday afternoon April 10, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born November 20, 1940 in Altoona a son of the late Melvin and Eleanor (Filer) Yon. He married Sandra J. McIntire on June 4, 1961 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra; two sons, R. Patrick Yon and wife Dana of Altoona, and Timothy M. Yon and fiancée Lynette Hoover of Altoona; two grandsons, R. Calvin Yon and wife Samantha, and P. Taylor Yon and fiancée Taylor Royer.  
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Yon retired in 2000 as a machinist welder for Conrail after 33 years of service.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring old jeeps and especially spending time with his sons and grandsons.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Timothy G. McGarvey officiating.
Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
