Russell W. Seilhamer, 86 of Altoona died Sunday February 4, 2018 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born January 8, 1932 in Altoona, a son of the late John E. and Arvada V. (Sparks) Seilhamer. He was raised in Mt. Union by his maternal grandmother, Frances Beaston. He was a beloved husband to Thelma E. Biddle for 65 years.
Surviving are his wife Thelma; four children, Larry, Jeff and wife Debbie, Linda and husband Bubba Shaffer, who preceded him in death and Joy and husband Joe Cover; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel, Ryan, Russ, Nichole, Shawn, Shane, Natalie, Ashley, Nick and Katie; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, David and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Budd, Starr, John, Jerry, Sonny and Shirley.
He worked for P.R.R. as a brakeman and engineer and retired from Berwind Railway as a Brakemen.
Russell was such a friendly person who liked to talk to anyone. He loved his dog Sweetie and all his family, flowers, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed listening to his country and gospel music. He liked cars, collecting hats and baseball cards and the Altoona Curve Baseball. Everyone loved his famous spaghetti and meatballs. He will be missed by everyone.
Friends will be received Friday February 9, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona.
