Cheryl J. Burkett

            Cheryl J. Burkett, 77 of Altoona died Wednesday morning April 24, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.                     

            She was born February 14, 1947, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Myron O. and Mabel E. (Hartz) Miller.

            Surviving are three children, daughter, Beth A. Karle (John), daughter Carol S. Patterson, and son George W. Patterson all of Altoona; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and four nieces.

            Cheryl was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Counsel.

            She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

            She was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School, and she was also a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce.

            Cheryl was, for several years, employed by the Altoona Area Public Library.

            She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed card games. She was an enormous Elvis fan, filling most rooms in her home with Elvis memorabilia.

            Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday April 29, 2024, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. Richard Henry and Pastor Susan Gingery co-officiating.

            Interment will be made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 Fifth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
