Emzel R. “Cookie” Boozer, 66 of Altoona died unexpectedly Saturday evening February 24, 2024, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born December 22, 1957, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Emzel R. and Lucille F. (Wilson) Boozer.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Ernestine Pearson; five children, first son Emzel R. Pearson (Nichole), second son Tyrese L. Pearson (Melissa), daughter Becky R. Pearson, daughter Kelli N. Hardy, and daughter Sabrina M. “Sam” Pearson all of Altoona; 18 grandchildren: Zakira "Nina", Abdul "Abdul Mr. Pearson", Ariyon "Boobie", Akil "PopPop", Ahmil "Billy", Aisha "Gouch", Nyaha "Pinky", Ameenah "Beans", Nahjay "Jaaaaaaa", Tyrese "Ralph from the South", Emzel IV "Chronic", Patrick "Bucky", Ezekeil "Lucky", Zhoey "Jelly Bean", Ameerah "Look in the Meerah", Mailiha "Too Short", Gorgeous "Little Bitty Bit" and Alima; and 3 great grandchildren-whom he loved very much: Nasier "Fat Man", Giselle "Little Nina" and Giuliana; and numerous extended family members.
Emzel was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Norman M. “Kevin” Hardy on May 30, 2023.
Emzel enjoyed playing and listening to music, watching old western and karate movies, cars, and he most especially enjoyed joke telling.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 8, 2024, at Catalyst Church, 2500 Fourth Avenue, Altoona with Pastor Michael Blackie and Pastor Kirk Hiton officiating.
