Martin Hughes Obituary

Martin Joseph Hughes, 73, born in Altoona, passed away in his hometown after a brief illness. He was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully departed this world. Martin, known affectionately as Marty, was the cherished son of Martin and Verda (Dixon) Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Pamela (Drugg) Hughes; and his sister, Shirley Workinger.

Marty is survived by his loving children, Kristen Hearns (Sean) and Melanie Kissell (Nathan); his adored grandchildren, Delana and Brody Kissell; and his sisters: Kay Graffius, Barb Franco, and Jeannie Workinger. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

On April 29, 1972, Marty married the love of his life, Pamela Drugg, with whom he shared many precious years of happiness.

Throughout his life, Marty worked diligently and retired from L.S. Fiore, and from driving for Thompson’s Pharmacy. His dedication to his work was evident to all who knew him.

Marty found joy in various hobbies and interests, such as cooking, gardening, riding his Harley, and spending time at Molly's with his friends. He also found great joy in watching his granddogs play and grow.

Despite being a man of few words, Marty’s love for his family and friends was deep. His quiet presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

Marty will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for his family, and the lasting impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

A celebration of his life and that of his late wife, Pam will be organized at a later date.
