Audrey McGregor Obituary

Audrey J. McGregor, 97 of Indiana, PA promoted to glory, Sunday July 7, 2019. Audrey was born in Hollidaysburg and graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1940. She married C. W. “Bill” McGregor in 1941. Bill predeceased Audrey on August 10, 2010 after 69 years of marriage. Audrey lived in the Hollidaysburg or Altoona area until January of 2011.

Audrey was welcomed into Heaven by her Heavenly Father, Jesus her Savior and the sweet Holy Spirit. She was also welcomed by her parents, A. Lee and Elmira Langham Ecker, her husband Bill McGregor, two sons, William H. and David McGregor, two brothers, A. Lee Ecker, Jr. and Donald Ecker and three sisters, Christine Wilt, Louise Brooks and Doris Haas.

Audrey is survived by three daughters, Judith Hess of Lancaster; Marian L. Marshall (G. Ronald) of Indiana; R. Gail Ropel (David) of Medford, OR; a son, Jon McGregor of York; a sister, Mary Jo Leidy of Duncansville and a sister-in-law, Alverta "Bertie" Coley of the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

Ten grandchildren survive her: Robert Hess, Denise Hess Weik, Jim McGregor, Elizabeth McGregor Buck, Rebecca Marshall Dietz, Melissa Marshall Jacobs, Natalie Marshall Greer, Douglas Ropel, Daniel Ropel and Matthew Ropel. In addition, she is survived by nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Audrey was a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona where she served as a Deaconess and in other Christian activities.

Audrey lived her last almost three years at Indiana Square Personal Care Home, where she is remembered by all staff as "the most appreciative person" in the home. Also, special thanks go to the nurses and care-aides of Penn Hospice, who lovingly supported Audrey's final months.
