Beatrice Joy (Youtzy) Seaberg, 89, Altoona, died Saturday at her residence.

She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late Cloyd Earl and Eliza Leone (Musser) Youtzy. She married Kermit Gustaf Seaberg on Nov. 5, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2016, after 69 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Jim) Callis, with whom she resided; three grandchildren: Amy (Bill) Havens of Ellettsville, Ind., Brian (Colleen) Biem of Tyrone and Mark Biem (Katie) of Altoona; three great-grandchildren: Luke and Noah Havens and Alex Biem; two special nieces: E. Leone "Lee" Hynes and C. Hope Poindexter; and other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Phillips; an infant sister, Muriel Leone; a brother, Kenneth "Bud" Youtzy; and a sister, Mary Alice Miller; two grandsons, Kristopher Conway and Stanley Biem; and a favorite cousin, Annabelle "Annie" David Walters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School. While in high school, she worked at Sylvania until the plant closed at the end of WWII. After high school, she worked at People's Drug Store from June, 1946 until December, 1949. She babysat for five years, was a certified nursing assistant  for less than a year, then went on to become a licensed practical nurse, first at Altoona Hospital until 1985, then as a private duty nurse until 1995.

She enjoyed reading, music, gardening, sewing, baking, her family and her dogs and cats. She was well known for her fudge and raisin-filled cookies. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an assistant Brownie leader.

Beatrice was a kind and caring mother. On cold days she would warm her children’s socks and mittens.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, the Rev. Kathy Colebank officiating. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beatrice’s memory to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
