Charles Robert “Chick” Dillen, 91, Altoona, went into the loving arms of the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday.
He was the son of John. H. and Bertha Wilt Dillen, who preceded him in death, as did his two siblings: Ardie J. Dillen and Betty Dillen Mendler. On Aug. 27, 1949, he married Patricia Ann Beale at Aldersgate Methodist Church, Mifflintown.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 69 years, Pat; their four children: Jean (Richard) Geist, Barbara (Clayton) Angle, Susan (William) Stratton and Daniel (Karen) Dillen; nine grandsons: Bradley (Leah) Angle, Jared Angle, Tyler Angle, Caleb Angle, Jordan (Carly) Dillen, Luke (Christy) Dillen, Micah (Diana) Dillen, Josh (Kirsten) Stratton and Mark Stratton; two great-grandchildren: Charlie Dillen and Addison Stratton; and a close extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chick was a graduate of Juniata College. He was employed by Ward Trucking for more than 50 years. He served his country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Navy on the USS Philippine Sea.
He was a lifelong member of Altoona First Church of the Brethren. His faith sustained him through 91 years.
Chick was involved in countless church and civic organizations for many years and was dedicated to bettering his community. His love for, and admiration from, his family was immeasurable.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Altoona First Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the church, Pastor Bill Pepper officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
