Charles C. “Bud” Emeigh, Jr., 86 of Altoona died Thursday afternoon March 7, 2019 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born January 22, 1933 in Newry a son of the late Charles C. and Edna P (Moore) Emeigh. He married Jo Ann Lawson on February 7, 1953 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann; a daughter, Linda Barry and her husband, Steve; a son, Robert Emeigh and his wife, Kathy; three grandchildren, Matthew Barry and his wife, Rhiannon; Rachel Scheitrum and her husband, Greg; and Stephanie Barry; four great grandchildren, Sarah Scheitrum, Greta Scheitrum, Hailey Barry and Emily Barry.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen and Alta Smith and Madge Remic and three brothers, George and James Smith and Elvin W. “Bill” Emeigh.
Mr. Emeigh was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona where he served on church council, served on the property committee and sang in the church choir.
Bud was a 1950 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1953 to 1955 attaining the rank of Corporal.
He retired from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company in 1996 after 35 years’ service.
Bud enjoyed wood-working, hunting, bowling and watching NASCAR.
He was a 50-year member and Past Master of Mountain Lodge #281 F. & A.M. and he was also a Noble of the Jaffa Shrine.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 12, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
