Charles Henry Guyer Jr., 76, Altoona, died Tuesday morning at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles Henry, Sr. and Wanda Vivian (Taylor) Guyer. On Jan. 24, 1969, he married Rebecca Ann Joyner in Penn Run.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters: Heather L. Guyer of Greenwood, Susan G. Thompson and husband, Martin, of Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill., and Sara E. Adams and husband, Raymond, of Dysart; four grandchildren: Victoria Adams, Sophia Thompson, Lily Adams and Noah Thompson; a sister, Diane Nason of Cedar Run; a brother, Timothy Guyer and wife, Martha, of Chester Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Judson T. Guyer in 1988.
Charles was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School; a 1964 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree; and a 1966 graduate of Shippensburg University with a master’s degree. He retired as a science teacher from the former Roosevelt Junior High School, Altoona, in 2000 after 35 years of service.
He was a former member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Antique Automobile Club of America; and the Antique Outboard Motor Club Inc.
Charles was a collector of antique cars and enjoyed fishing in Canada and spending time outdoors.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Kathy Colebank officiating. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.
