David Layne Langenbacher, Jr.

            David Layne “Jake” Langenbacher, Jr., 66 of Altoona died Tuesday afternoon July 16, 2019 at his residence.

            He was born June 11, 1953 in Tyrone a son of the late David Layne, Sr. and Marion (Updike) Langenbacher. He married Shirley Jean Walter on December 23, 1975 in Bedford County.

            Surviving are his wife, Shirley; five children, son Scott William Walter; daughter Anita Marie McCale and her husband Scott; twin sons David William Walter (Michelle Fagan) and Kenneth William Walter all of Altoona; daughter Dianna Layne Walter of Hollidaysburg; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; aunt Arlene Miller of Ohio; aunt Mary Boonie of Greenwood; nephews Brian Langenbacher and Bobby Stiffler both of Altoona; cousins Lovie Conway and her husband, Bob, and George Updike, Jr. all of Altoona; and his dog, Jake.

            David was preceded in death by sister Shirley Boggs, sister Debbie Weigner, brother John Langenbacher, brother Fred Langenbacher; daughter-in-law Cheryl Ressler; and his best friend Mel Stitt.

            Mr. Langenbacher attended Trans4mation Church, Altoona.

            David was employed as a maintenance technician and construction worker at various locations throughout his life.

            He enjoyed playing Bingo, watching professional wrestling, video games, television evangelists and daily brief trips to the pub to see his friends.

            Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Friday July 19, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Ice officiating.
