            David Kenneth Weaver, Jr., 93, of Elmcroft, formerly of Altoona died Wednesday morning April 24, 2019 at UPMC Altoona.

            He was born April 10, 1926 in Altoona a son of the late David Kenneth and Justine (Webb) Weaver. He married Ruth G. Spitz on November 22, 1947 in Altoona. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2013.

            Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

            Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Paul and twin brothers, Ernest and Edward and two sisters, Margaret Harm and Barbara Jane Bistline.

            Mr. Weaver attended and was a very active member of the former 58th Street United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School.

            He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during WWII and received the Purple Heart medal after being wounded in action at Iwo Jima.

            Kenneth retired as a chief lineman from Penelec on June 30, 1988 after 41 years’ service.

            He was a 50-year member of Hiram Lodge #616 F. & A. M.; a member of the Valley of Altoona, Scottish Rite bodies; a member of Jaffa Shrine where he was a member of the Legion of Honor and was a founder of the Jaffa Color Guard. He was also a member of the Jaffa Ushers Club and a founder of the Jaffa Wiring Committee. He was a member of the Altoona Shrine Club; Chief Logan Forest #131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Juniata V.F.W. Post #8685 (Fort Apache) and the Hollidaysburg American Legion Post #562.

            Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday May 3, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Knorpp officiating and a Masonic funeral service following.

            Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery with full military honors.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Philadelphia, in care of Jaffa Shrine, PO Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603-1984.
