Donald Domenick “Happy Pappy” Nardelli, 88 of Altoona died late Monday evening December 30, 2019 at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1931 in Altoona a son of the late Michele “Mike” and Anna (Colombo) Nardelli. He married Mary E. Bell on February 23, 1952 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona. She preceded him in death April 13, 2004.
Surviving are a daughter, Patti L. Baker of Sinking Valley; three grandchildren, Christine Willnecker (David) of Altoona; Brodie Baker (Stephanie) of Hollidaysburg; Ashley Hinterberger (Cory) of Bellwood; and three great grandchildren, Payton, Dominic and Carlie.
Donald was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Baker and a sister, Carmelina Spahn.
Mr. Nardelli was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.
He attended Altoona High School.
He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict.
Donald retired as a sales representative from W. S. Lee & Sons following 46 years’ service.
He enjoyed gardening; cooking; watching old movies; dancing, especially the “Jitterbug”; spending time at the family cabin and the “Garage-Mahal”; and visiting his Blue Knob Auto “family”. Donald especially enjoyed spending time with his family, including his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a fan of the Washington Redskins and a member of the American Legion Post #0827, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Sunday January 5, 2020 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a vigil service for the deceased will be held.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday January 6, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery with military honors to follow.
