Dorothy J. (Vipond) Kling

            Dorothy J. “Dottie” (Vipond) Kling, 80 of Altoona went home to be with her Lord March 6, 2019.

            She was born in Altoona daughter of the late William O. and Ethel (Cassel) Vipond. She married Donald P. Kling on July 6, 1957 at Second Avenue Evangelical United Brethren Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are her husband of sixty-one years; two daughters, Paula J. and son-in-law Ron Perretta; Dawn M. Kling and friend Sherry Wilt all of Altoona; son Craig A. Kling and wife, Beth; three grandchildren, McKayla Lleyton and Paxton all of Roaring Spring; sister Anna Mae Dobson of Altoona; brother William H. Vipond of Florida; sister-in-law Evelyn Kling of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Dottie was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery S. Kling; brothers Robert M., Edward I. and Jack E. Vipond; and sisters Janet M. Price and Ethel J. “Toots” Crowley.

            Dottie was a graduate of Altoona High class of 1956.

            Dottie was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She loved taking care of her family and home. She was known for baking Christmas cookies and giving them for gifts. She loved sitting on her swing, walking around the neighborhood talking with everyone and would baby-sit the neighborhood children. She loved to be surrounded by family and friends at picnics and parties. She enjoyed planting flowers and cutting grass in her yard. Dottie loved any outside activity in warm weather. She collected doughboy items, cookie jars and antiques and filled her leisure time with quilting, knitting and eating ice cream.

            Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Sunday March 10, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Sandell officiating.
