Eleanor VanHorne, 75 died Monday morning April 8, 2019 at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born January 1, 1944 in Pittsburgh a daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Ferguson) Timmins. She married M. Dale VanHorne May 6, 1967 in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are her husband, Dale; three children, daughter Jo Lynn Baran and her husband Peter of Tyrone; son Mark Dale VanHorne and his wife Jennifer of Shippensburg; son Scott Alan VanHorne of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Anna Baran, Jackson VanHorne, Emily Baran, Sarah VanHorne and Cate Baran; and sister Marilyn Schuster and her husband George of Pittsburgh.
Eleanor was preceded in death by a brother, W. Thomas Timmins, Jr.
Mrs. VanHorne was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Altoona.
She was a graduate of Baldwin High School and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics.
Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and especially enjoyed attending their softball games. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts and reading.
She was a member of the Delphi Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was very active with her church activities.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday April 11, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and 10-11 a.m. Friday April 12, 2019 at Providence Presbyterian Church, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Braun officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
