Erla Jane Weathersbee, 90, a native of Altoona, who later resided with her daughter Becky and husband Sabin in Stafford, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born June 10, 1929 in Altoona a daughter of the late Roy E. and Rebecca Lillian (Steward) Fluke. She married Julian C. Weathersbee on June 19, 1949 in Altoona.
Jane, as she preferred to be called, is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Jane Stiteler of Springfield, VA; Rebecca Sue Mills of Stafford, VA; a son, Julian Kerry Weathersbee of Altoona; five grandchildren, Kerry Lee and Kelly Ray Weathersbee of Altoona; Misty Dawn Parker of Springfield, VA; Faith Rebecca Gfeller of Oswego, NY; Joshua Ryan Mills of Stafford, VA; thirteen great grandchildren; Taylor, Sarah, Lukas, Brittney and Megan all of Altoona, Rachel and Katelyn of Springfield, VA; Thomas, Adam, Grace and Samuel all of Oswego, NY; Landon and Lily of Stafford, VA; and two great great grandchildren Adelyn and Lillian of Altoona. Jane one of ten siblings (six brothers and three sisters) is survived by her sister Joyce Lee Roberts of Altoona and Raymond D. Fluke "Poogie" of Erie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Julian C. “Bud” Weathersbee on March 25, 1995.
Mrs. Weathersbee was a long-time member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona and upon moving to Stafford, VA became a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Stafford, VA.
Jane loved caring for, providing for and shopping for or making gifts to give her entire family, especially for birthdays and the holidays. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior as well as to her family was a priority in her life which she shared with everyone.
The last stop on her journey was as a resident at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Altoona, where her loving and gentle interactions with staff and care givers was affectionately received and reciprocated to her.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Saturday October 26, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
