          Gene G. Ross, 85, formerly of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening May 3, 2017 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home.

            He was born December 29, 1931 in Altoona a son of the late Walter F. and Violet M. (McMullen) Ross. He married Jacqueline J. Lehman on May 22, 1951 at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife Jackie; four children, son David G. Ross and his wife Michelle of Gibsonia; son Thomas A. Ross and his wife Debra of Altoona; daughter Sharon E. Loomis and her husband Michael of Altoona; daughter Sue Ellen Rabish and her husband Jeffrey of Gallitzin; daughter-in-law Becky Ross of Altoona; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother Russell M. Ross of Ashley; and a sister Shirley M. Dunkle and her husband Wayd of Greencastle.

            Gene was preceded in death by a son, Stephen L. Ross on June 22, 2016; a brother Richard R. Ross; a sister Bea Finney; and a sister Gloria Jackson;

Mr. Ross was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona where he taught Sunday school for 43 years and was a member of the board of trustees.

            He was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School.    

            Gene retired as president of Ross Mobile Homes in 1997 after 48 years’ service.

            He was previously employed by Butterick and Baltimore Contractors.

            He was a member of the United States Naval Reserve.

            Gene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, antique cars and camping.

            Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday May 7, 2017 and 10-11 a.m. Monday May 8, 2017 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Sandell officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.    

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind and Visually-Impaired, 300 Fifth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
