Harry E. “Hop” Horton, 84, of Juniata, Altoona died Wednesday morning January 2, 2019 at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness.
He was born December 29, 1934 in Oreminea a son of the late John Blair, Sr., and Florence Marie (Hughes) Horton. He married Shirley Ann Cross on September 27, 1966 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife Shirley; five children, son Stephen R. Horton (Wendy); son Larry P. Weyandt (Julie); son John F. Horton, Sr.; daughter Rose M. Hornberger (Jeff); daughter Tracy L. Wilkins (Rob); special niece Lisa A. Smith (Scott) all of Altoona; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren including special grandson and caregiver, Shane R. Wilkins; and a brother John Blair and a sister Shirley Colbert both of Altoona.
Hop was preceded in death by a son Nelson E. Horton; sisters, Dolores Colbert, Debra Horton and Beverly Weaver; and a daughter-in-law Cathy L. Horton.
Mr. Horton was a self-employed trucking owner/operator retiring in 1997 with 60 years’ service.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, stock car racing, playing cards and trips to casinos.

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday January 4, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. with Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
