Helen Wesner Obituary

 

            Helen Elane Wesner, 88 of Altoona died Friday evening April 5, 2019 following a brief stay at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

            She was born August 15, 1930 in Altoona a daughter of the late Samuel Wesley, Jr. and Josephine Emily (Austin) Wallace. She married Verle Elwood Wesner on December 1, 1951 in Altoona. He preceded her in death January 25, 1999.

            Surviving are three children, daughter Deborah Kay Brumbaugh of Altoona; son Richard Barry Wesner of Altoona; daughter Denise Jean Caracciolo and her husband Paul of Bellwood; Andrea Deters, who was like a daughter; nine grandchildren, Justin Brumbaugh, Carissa Brumbaugh, Erin Meyers, Ruark Brumbaugh, Jocelyn Ross, Bethany Sipes, Caitlin Sipes, Brooke Wesner, Todd Wesner and Emily Jo Powers, who was like a granddaughter; twelve great grandchildren, Izabella, Tristan, Thaddeus, Taylor, Nathanial, Christian, Avery, Jaydon, Steven, Gabriella, Brianna and Liliana; and a sister, Mary Jane Rinn of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

            Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Wallace, a sister-in-law Cleova Wallace and a brother-in-law, Jack Rinn.

            She was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School. 

            Helen retired as a first-floor manager from Kaufman’s in downtown Altoona in 1973.

            She was a pianist and previously played the pipe organ for Second Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved to read, especially her Bible and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was an accomplished seamstress.

            At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 300 Fifth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
