Jack Merrill Morgan, 81 of Altoona died Friday morning August 10, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born December 14, 1936 in Altoona a son of the late Hughy Merrill and Ferma Naomi (Kerlin) Morgan.
He married Edna May Hiltner on August 31, 1956 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife; six children, daughter Susan Lee Morgan of Roaring Spring; daughter Jacqueline Renee Traver (Daniel Lee Teeters) of Tyrone; son Jeffrey Merrill Morgan (Dawn) of Altoona; daughter Lisa Dawn Morgan of Altoona; son Jesse Martin Morgan (Paula Harris) of Greenwood; son Jason Matthew Morgan of Altoona; five grandchildren, Beth Ann; Angela; Gretchen; Nathan; Kiersten; four great grandchildren, John, Lane, Emmalyn, Levi; and sister Judy Yon of Greenwood.
Jack was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Albert Paul Beasom.
Mr. Morgan was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona.
He was a 1954 graduate of Altoona High School.
He retired as a driver after 58 ½ years’ service from Ward Trucking where he had been employed since 1959.
Jack was an avid baseball fan and coach for teams in the Greenwood area for Little League through Federation level baseball. He enjoyed model railroading and gardening.
He was a member of the Altoona Association of Model Railroaders for many years.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday August 13, 2018 and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday August 14, 2018 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Ralph W. Hamer officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
