Jean E. (Grove) Graffius

            Jean E. Graffius, 94 of Altoona died early Monday morning March 11, 2019 at UPMC Altoona.

            She was born April 18, 1924 in Altoona a daughter of the late Hayden W. and Emma (Kochenour) Grove. She married Oliver E. Graffius on September 24, 1944 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Marks and her husband John of Altoona; a grandson, John E. Marks and his wife, Danyelle of Lititz; two sisters, Peggy McCready of Altoona and Delores McCloskey and her husband, William of Bellwood; and many nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter; five brothers, George, Lewis, Robert, Hayden and Richard Grove and two sisters, Ethel Lantz and Shirley McMullen.

            Mrs. Graffius was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Win-A-Chum Sunday School class.

            Jean was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School.

            She retired as an inspector from Boyer Candy Company after 13 years’ service.

            She enjoyed reading, word-search puzzles and playing Yahtzee.

            Friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Thursday March 14, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating.

            Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
