Leslie E. “Les” Korman, 78 of Altoona died Sunday evening December 15, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
He was born October 8, 1941 in Juniata, Altoona a son of the late Edward B., Sr. and Ida J. (Reffner) Korman. He married Carol A. Strauser on March 3, 1962 in Altoona. She preceded him in death July 30, 2006.
Surviving are seven children, Lisa McCommons (Calvin); Mark Korman (Rebecca); Lynnel Korman; William Korman (Heather); Sheila Imler (John); Angie Mellott (Ronald); Brittany Morgan (Sean); two brothers James and Gene (Ruth); sister Margaret Gebhart; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous foster children.
Les was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward, Jr. and George and a sister Thelma.
Mr. Korman was a member of the former Pleasant Valley Assembly of God where he sang in the choir.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard Reserve veteran.
Les worked as a security officer for many years.
He enjoyed Bingo and QVC.
He was a longtime volunteer for the Blair Senior Service Foster Grandparent Program.
Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. Friday December 20, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor John Gray and Pastor Troy Ferguson co-officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
