Lois Jean Adams, 90 of Altoona died early Saturday morning November 23, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
She was born May 11, 1929 in Altoona a daughter of the late Donald Hall and Margaret Pearl (Harnden) Burkhart. She married Arthur Leroy Adams on June 27, 1950 in Altoona.
Surviving are her husband Arthur with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage; five children, son Arthur Lynn Adams (Anne) of Orlando, FL; daughter Linda Louise Sunderlin (Charles) of Burnside; daughter Donna Jean Houck of Altoona; son Ivan James Adams (Sharon) of North Cape May, NJ; Susan Marie Grant (Dwight) of Louisville, KY; sixteen grandchildren, Tina (Jason), Sureena (James), Michelle (Jason), Karen (Steve), Brian, Christina (Calvin), Jessica (Thomas), Ivan, Arthur (Sydney), Ian, Jason (Jennifer), Jennifer (Brad), Susan (Dwight), Cody, David and Joshua; seventeen great grandchildren, Arianna, Kiana, Gareth, Kendra, Thomas, Colton, Natalie, Victoria, Kaylee, Alaina, Brayden, William, Everest, Tyler, Landon, Jasmyn and Ariella; a great great granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Virginia L. Taylor of Disputanta, VA.
Mrs. Adams was a life member of the First Church of Christ where she served as a deaconess and was an organist and pianist.
She was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School.
Lois retired as a nurses aid from the nursery department of the Altoona Hospital in 1985 after 19½ years’ service.
She enjoyed crocheting and singing and was a member of the Altoona Choral Society.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday November 27, 2019 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and 10-11 a.m. Friday November 29, 2019 at First Church of Christ, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
