Lois Regina Shimer, 90 of Altoona died Tuesday afternoon February 27, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born October 26, 1927 in Lebanon, PA a daughter of the late William Reginald Cuttrell and Dorothy (Snyder) Cuttrell Weaver. She married Richard E. Shimer on July 12, 1947 in Altoona. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2018.
Surviving is a nephew, Kevin Shimer.
Mrs. Shimer was a member of Simpson-Temple United Parish, Altoona where she sang in the choir, taught confirmation class and was a delegate to the Allegheny Synod.
She was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School and was a graduate of Zeth Business School in Accounting.
Lois was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Montgomery-Ward; Sky Bros; and Peerless Printing.
She and her husband enjoyed breeding and showing Siamese cats.
She was a member of the Altoona Hospital Auxiliary; a member and past president of the Kittanning Trail Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary; a member of the Cat Fanciers Association; and a past president of the Altoona Area Co-Mission.
She was a volunteer for Contact Altoona, the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, Easter Seals, the Cresson State School and the Altoona Cat Club.
Lois enjoyed playing Horse, Pinochle and Bridge; crafts and chairing the Golden Games for ten years.
Friends will be received from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday March 5, 2018 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. James House officiating. Entombment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
