Richard F. Westenkirchner, 62 of Bellemeade Manor, Altoona died Saturday afternoon November 12, 2011 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He was born October 25, 1949 in Altoona a son of the late Paul F. and Etta (Schooley) Westenkirchner.

Surviving are a brother Paul R. Westenkirchner and his wife Sandy of Winchester, VA; a niece Sue Trussell in Virginia and a nephew Paul R. Westenkirchner, Jr. in Ohio.

Richard was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

He was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1971 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce with an Associate Degree in Business majoring in accounting. He also had attended classes at the Altoona Area Vo-Tech School for machinist training and electronics.

Richard enjoyed playing and teaching guitar and especially liked country and bluegrass music.

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday November 15, 2011 and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday November 16, 2011 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Paula Schmitt officiating. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
