Robert Godfrey “Bob” Leberfinger, 85 of Altoona died unexpectedly early Saturday morning December 1, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born May 10, 1933 in Hollidaysburg a son of the late Godfrey and Catherine (Steiner) Leberfinger. He married Arline L. Grimminger on November 7, 1953 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Arline; four children, daughter Terri L. Weakland (Pete) of Altoona; son Robert M. Leberfinger (Cathy Smith) of Conestoga; daughter Robyn L. Murphy (Denny) of Altoona; daughter Michele M. Leberfinger (Willie Sanchez) of Altoona; three grandchildren, Travis Weakland, Danielle Rimbeck and Andy Leberfinger; two great grandsons, Evan Rimbeck and Dylan Weakland; and a brother, Don Leberfinger of New Mexico.
Robert was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael Leberfinger and Annastasia Leberfinger; sister Anna Jean Burns, brother Lawrence Leberfinger, sister Helen Eckley and brother Paul Leberfinger.
Mr. Leberfinger was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona where he served many years as an usher.
He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He retired as a sales representative from Kline’s Meat Packing in Hollidaysburg after many years and had previously been employed by Lester’s Mens Shop.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.
Bob was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society; the Unter Uns Society; Brush Mountain Sportsmen’s Association; and the Altoona Rifle & Pistol Club, Sinking Valley.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a vigil service for the deceased will be held.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday December 5, 2018 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona with Rev. Ronald V. Osinski officiating with committal rites to follow. Entombment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
