               Stephen Bruce Wasylak, 72 of Altoona died early morning Friday June 16, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.

               He was born July 9, 1944 in Altoona a son of the late Stephen and Janice (Widney) Wasylak. He married Cathy M. Fetterman on September 17, 1966 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church.

               Surviving are his wife, Cathy; three children, Stephen D. “Bug” Wasylak and wife Eileen, Tanya L. Lauver and husband Clair, Gavin L. Wasylak and wife Amanda; five grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Billy, Nick and Oscar; and many special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

               He was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church.

               A 1962 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1966 graduate of Penn State, Altoona.

               He retired in 2012 as a highway engineer and project manager with over forty plus years of service.

               Stephen enjoyed refereeing and coaching soccer and was one of the founders of the AYSO; he was involved in the Habitat for Humanity of Blair County, he coached Pop Warner football League in Bellwood, and was involved in the Community Action Program and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

               He also received a state award for building a wetland on I-99.

               Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday June 19, 2017 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 20, 2017, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Linda Bradley officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

               In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Habitat for Humanity of Blair County, 1410 Alleghany Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
