Adam Lawruk Obituary

            Adam S. Lawruk, 85 of Altoona died Thursday afternoon July 23, 2020 at his residence.

            He was born July 26, 1934 in Altoona a son of the late Antony and Magdaline (Gurna) Lawruk. He married Regina Marie Bryan on July 30, 1960 at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Marie; a daughter, Gina A. Lawruk Ellis and her husband Rasheen A. Ellis of Altoona; a granddaughter, Jordan E. Dublin of Hastings; a brother, Maurice A. Lawruk (Mary Lou) of Altoona; a sister, Olga Romerowicz of Altoona; a sister, Jennie Cramer of Wallingford, PA; a brother-in-law, Don Bryan (Peggy) of Altoona; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cocker spaniel, “Teddy”.

            Adam was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Walter and Donald Lawruk and a sister, Alice Hanna.

            Mr. Lawruk was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

            He was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School.

            Adam was a U.S. Army veteran.

            He began employment as a carpenter and then retired as a supervisor of construction from Maurice A. Lawruk Builders, Inc. following 36 years service.

            He enjoyed golfing, fly fishing, and hunting.

            Mr. Lawruk was a member of Park Hills Country Club and Scotch Valley Country Club.

            “Losing him will leave a large void in our lives”

            Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday July 28, 2020 where a vigil service for the deceased will be held and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday July 29, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Clark Street, Hollidaysburg where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday with Father Alfred Patterson, O.S.B. officiating. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona with military honors to follow.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
