Albert James Vasbinder

            Albert James “Jim” “Vas” Vasbinder, 69 of Altoona went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning December 17, 2022, at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness.

            He was born June 10, 1953, in Altoona a son of the late William F. and Eleanor L. (Purdue) Vasbinder.

            Surviving are a sister, Bert Creamer, and a brother, Robert “Bob” Vasbinder (Norma) both of Altoona, two special nieces, Michelle Pierson, and Jennifer Kirk; and numerous extended family members and friends.

            Jim was preceded in death by a brother, David W. Vasbinder, on June 11, 1994.

            Mr. Vasbinder attended First Church of Christ, Juniata Gap.

            He was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

            He retired as a glass inspector from PPG Industries. He had previously been employed by Puritan Sportswear, and the American Eagle Papermill, Tyrone.

Jim enjoyed football, especially, Penn State, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, playing Bingo, and eating a good home cooked meal.

A future memorial service will be held at First Church of Christ, Juniata Gap.

Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
