Allen H. Lingenfelter, Jr.

            Allen H. Lingenfelter, Jr., 91 of York formerly of Altoona died late Thursday evening June 25, 2020 at ManorCare Health Services – York North.

            He was born April 12, 1929 in Altoona a son of the late Allen H. and Sara L. (Goshorn) Lingenfelter. He married Joanne Bigelow on June 4, 1952 in Altoona. She preceded him in death April 23, 2018.

            Surviving are three children, daughter Elizabeth A. Hoover (Greg) of Tyrone; daughter Sandra K. Baccelli of DuBois; son Allen H. Lingenfelter, III (Karen) of York; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

            Allen was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Barr and a brother Daniel Lingenfelter.

            Mr. Lingenfelter was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Allen retired as a System Airbrake Manager from Conrail on April 1, 1990 following 40 years’ service.

Mr. Lingenfelter enjoyed all PIAA sports including football, baseball and basketball.

Friends will be held received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday June 30, 2020 and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday July 1, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Ronald Anderson officiating. Interment will be made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.
