Andrew Thomas “Tom” Black, 84, of Altoona died Friday morning May 15, 2020 at his residence.
He was born October 30, 1935 in Altoona a son of the late Leroy and Margaret Jane (Morrisey) Black. He married Shirley Jean Salsgiver on June 16, 1954 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; two children, son Thomas Andrew Black (Donna Jean) of Birmingham; daughter Connie Jean Robbins (George) of Halifax; seven grandchildren including Michael Blackie who was raised in the home; seven great grandchildren including Malayna Marie of Halifax; daughter-in-law, Brenda Black of Harrisburg; and a niece, Darlene Knapp of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack L. Black; and a grandson, Jacob T. Black.
Tom was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving for eight years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He retired as a supervisor for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in 1994 following 25 years’ service.
He was a member of the Bellwood VFW and enjoyed fishing.
There will be no viewing or funeral service.
Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery.
