Anna Mae Dobson, 100, of Altoona died Sunday afternoon at Guardian Healthcare – Hillview, Altoona.
She was born May 9, 1922, in Altoona a daughter of the late William Oliver and Ethel (Cassel) Vipond. She married Howard Roy Dobson, Sr. on June 11, 1946, in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death December 1, 1975.
Surviving are two sons, William E. Dobson (Barbara) of Sinking Valley, and Kenneth C. Dobson (Colleen John) of Coral; nine grandchildren, Michele Dobson, Amanda Moyer (John), Thomas Dobson (Kim), Christopher Dobson (Jeannette Morse), Judy Fogleman (Mark), Patty Ann Dobson (Andy Garman), Bradley Dobson (Rebecca), Ricky L. “JR” Dobson, and Dusty Jean “DJ” Hendrickson; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a brother, William Vipond (Pauline) of Florida; and numerous extended family members.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by two sons, Howard R. Dobson, Jr., and Ricky L. Dobson, Sr., and the following siblings, Robert M. Vipond, Edward I. Vipond, John E. “Jack” Vipond, Janet M. Price, Ethel J. “Toots” Crowley, and Dorothy J. “Dottie” Kling.
Mrs. Dobson was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, search-a-word puzzles, and was an avid reader.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday March 3, 2023, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Pastor Brian Sandell officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
