Anobel L. Ostrander, 91, died early Monday morning November 21, 2022, at Epworth Manor Senior Living, Tyrone.
She was born July 7, 1931, in Altoona a daughter of the late Edgar C. and Esther A. (McCloskey) Whitfield. She married Ormond O. Ostrander on July 21, 1951, in Altoona. He preceded her in death, December 4, 2018.
Surviving are two children, son Guy D. Ostrander (Barbara) of Petersburg, and daughter Gwen L. Mills of Red Lion; two grandchildren, Daniel Mills (Jenna) of Parkton, MD, and Sarah Nye (Mitchell) of Wrightsville; five great grandchildren, Dennis, Sadie, and Jonathan Nye, and Everly and Corinne Mills.
Anobel was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Whitfield, Jr.; a son-in-law, Dennis Mills; and a step-grandson, Geordan.
Mrs. Ostrander was a member of Jaggard-First United Methodist Church, Altoona where she served on the Board of Trustees and served as a secretary.
She was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School.
Anobel retired as a Teacher Aid from the Altoona Area School District in 1993 following 28 years’ service, 23 of those years spent at Washington-Jefferson Elementary School.
She enjoyed painting and sewing.
She was a member of Delphi Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday November 28, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred Hickok officiating.
